11 August 2008 ~ Simple Woman’s Day Journal ~ For Today

FOR TODAY … 11 August 2008

Outside My Window…Guys working on the emergency generators outside my work building…the same ones that didn’t work during a power outage…the same ones that almost destroyed 100’s of Thousands of Dollars of lab freezers. Here’s hoping they’re actually fixing the things! πŸ™‚

I am thinking…I need two more days in my weekend…I have a lot to finish up! I’m tired.

I am thankful for… a roof over my head, food in the garden.

From the kitchen… At home I have the oils and butters all measured out for one more batch of cold processed soap on the butcher block. Here at work I have a slice of banana nut bread with chocolate chips ready to be nuked in the microwave…love it gooey and warm!

I am wearing… Brown Irish linen tank top, tan crop pants and my berks, copper & glass bead bracelet.

I am creating… cold process soap and lip balms, will be cutting out an autumn wall hanging out of felted wool.

I am going… to go on a picnic with my mom and niece and nephew today at lunch time…maybe my sister will join us too!

I am reading…the second book in the Artemis Fowl series, The Arctic Incident.

I am hoping… that my husband can find a job real quick as he is out of work again (please pray!)

I am hearing… The hum of the chillers that just came on in the building…and me typing…pretty quiet here in my office today.

Around the house… it smells wonderful! I have soap curing all over the place…Spiced Chocolate Caffee up on the top of the refrig, and in the window nooks in the master bedroom I have Fall Apple Crisp, Oatmeal Milk & Honey, and The Sierras in Autumn (although you can subsitute The Sierras for any mountain range/forest)!

One of my favorite things… listening/watching football in August while it’s bloody hot…that means AUTUMN IS COMING! AUTUMN IS COMING! PUMPKINS! COOL CRISP AIR! LEAVES ARE AH’ CHANGING! YIPPIE! Ahhhh…big sigh.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… Finshing making 2 batches of soap (a Peach Mango and the other is a mix of essential oils that I made for C-A-L-M-I-N-G effect); lip balms; cut out a wool wall hanging; help find a job for my husband.

Here is picture thought I’d share with you… Hot August Nights cruising on Saturday Night at Victorian Square, Sparks, NV.

  1. Ooh! I am excited for Autumn too! πŸ™‚ I love the crisp and coolness of the fall! Great post! πŸ™‚ And thank you for your sweet comments lately! πŸ˜‰ You’re so sweet!

  2. I’m really excited for fall too! Being in New England, fall isn’t just a time of year, it’s a lifestyle, a state of mind. Fall is my favorite time of year, but as excited as I am for it, I don’t think I’m quite ready to let go of summer yet… Maybe if it were a normal August for us, hot and sticky and humid, then I’d feel differently. πŸ˜€
