Well…with help from my mom, I made up the last of my nephew’s Christmas present ~ a Magician Cape…to go with his top hat, wand, and magic tricks.
He loves green so I found a very deep green crushed velvet material for one side and a shiny black for the other. I just winged it for the pattern after looking on-line for some ideas. It’s 30″ long and 36″ wide with a curve at the bottom and tapered to the top with a 3″-4″ collar.
As I’ve said before…I hate sewing clothes. So my mom took the hint that she should sew it together for me…I could have, but it’s stretchy material and I thought I’d have trouble with it. THANKS MOM! Then she top-stitched it too.
We decided that the green should be on the outside…not hidden on the inside! So Nate will be a snazzy looking magician ~ more Merlin-like! 🙂 Especially when I dug out some green and gold Celtic ribbon that I had…sewed that onto the collar, added two great looking buttons and some gold cording. And the ends of the cording I added gold bead spacers and two frosted gold glass beads.
Cool cape! He should love it!

That is absolutely gorgeous work!!! He is going to love it, and hey, if he doesn’t, *I* do LOL!

I figured when he’s tired of being an magician he’ll make one heck of a Prince Charming!
I think he will love it.
Great job… wow!!
So he likes green, eh? Gets that from Auntie M, doesn’t he? ;-p
🙂 Hee.
Hannah-Banana is going to be OH SO GREEN when she sees this.
That is the cutest things ever. My kids used to dream of being magicians. I bet those would be a hot seller this time of year.
I love the cape! The celtic ribbon is a perfect touch. What a lucky nephew.
Blessings,
