I Declare…

UPDATE: Ok…it’s NOT Saturday today. I survived my mini-meltdown with only 2 Mike’s Hard Lemonades, 3 tacos, a jalapeno, and early to bed.

I was going to post about my garden today…

But did you know that I just declared today Friday and Tequila night?

It’s true!

I swear!

See you on Monday!

Wee Bit of Sunshine brings the Bees out to work

We had a break in the grey cloudy rainy sky on Sunday…bit of sunshine poked through! Was out and about the yard and found lots of bees on the purple salvia and poppy plants. I didn’t get a picture of one bee…but she/he was sorta whitish with GREEN eyes. Very beautiful. It was zipping to fast for me to get it’s picture. I also saw a pretty black/purple bee…I think he was a Carpenter bee..

Not sure where their hive is, but I’m glad to share my yard with them.

FOR TODAY … 10 June 2009

Outside My Window… Overcast day…maybe rain again later on? Welders, pavers, tonka toy drivers.

I am thinking… I haven’t seen the news in a while…I’m going to miss game 7 of the Stanley Cup! Crap! This Sobe Lifewater Yumberry Pomegranate with ginger & dandelion is pretty tasty.

I am thankful for… my job, my family, my garden.

From the kitchen… Not sure what will be for dinner tonight. Made chicken tacos last night. And an Apple Crunch.

I am wearing… Blue jeans, brown shirt, tennis shoes, and hair down.

I am creating… absolutely nothing. I’m SUPPOSED to be working on a quilt, candles, and a Fourth of July exchange.

I am going… work on my To Do List here at work…my spiral notebook is filling up fast and not enough cross-offs. 😦

I am reading… Country Matters By Michael Korda.

I am hoping… My constant wish ~ That everyone that is looking for a job, finds one.

I am hearing… HVAC up on the roof, researchers talking loudly in the office and hall. Me typing. The phone ringing. I’m on sensory overload, me thinks.

Around the house… a silly kitty following older silly kitty around like a puppy dog. My husband describes Lucy as an orange Godzilla (charges through everything that is in her way)…even does the Godzilla dance!

One of my favorite things… Nap time…kiddos don’t know a good thing when they got it! 🙂

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… not really sure.

Here is a picture thought I’d share with you… not one of mine, but it makes me laugh!

Lots of Rain in Northern Nevada ~ June 8, 2009

Holy Moly…we’ve been getting lost of rain lately. I haven’t turned on our water since May 30th!

Last night about 7 pm on the way home we hit a wall of water…dry on one side and huge rain drops on the other. It’s a good thing we decided not to walk around the Sparks Marina after dinner. In a half hour our street was flooding…see the creek running down the street?

The white vertical streaks are rain…

This morning I found my Lemon Queen sunflowers pushed over…and my Brussels sprouts were pummeled too. 😦

We just turned off the tv and popped in a Jack Johnson cd and played a game of Scrabble.

There’s a New Resident at Sleepy Cat Hollow

and her name is Lucy!

The paper work from the Nevada Humane Society had the following:

Hi, my name is China. I am a spayed female Domestic SH. I am approximately 7 months old and I came to the shelter on 5/18/2009. 5.05 lbs.

Someone had taken the 2 year old I was looking at on 5/31/09…and my second choice was a kitty named Gizmo, but when I took the slip up I was told that here was a hold on her. I guess the owners had dropped off two kittens (they were 8-9 months old) and decided that they wanted one back, the one I wanted. So…one of the workers took me back into the dog part of the shelter where they were housing more cats. That’s where I saw Lucy…she was stressed out with a cold and on Clavamox, but I wanted her…she was an instant cuddle and purr when I picked her up.

I know I should have kept her away from Leo, but she’s been on the medication for 6 days and Leo was having a fit wanting to see what I brought into the house.

From that moment on Lucy followed Leo around like a puppy dog. She LOVES Leo.

I got her home about 4:30 pm on Friday…being that she had the cold and probably couldn’t smell all that well, I was told to feed her tuna or something extra stinky. She’d only drink water that night. I feed her tuna but she didn’t eat it. 😦 Saturday was the same thing. She drank but wouldn’t eat. I called the clinic at the Humane Society, but they were closed. At the grocery store I picked up a small can of Iams…found what I thought would be the stinkiest dead fishy smell there and opened it up for her when I got home.

LUCY WAS EATING!

I let her eat about a Tablespoon and then took it away…didn’t want her to get sick after not eating for so long! I fed her about every 2 hours after that. Now she won’t stop! LOL! Wee piggie! She likes chicken too…she’s a good begger for someone so young. 🙂

Hurry up and settle down or I’ll give you the stink eye!

That’s better.

And this is how Miss Lucy holds her tail most of the time…

Straight up and flicking from side to side. She struts pretty well. And she does a very cute front leg two-step dance. 🙂

***** The Nevada Humane Society is over-run with cats and kittens, folks! Not to mention dogs. June is $10 cat adoption & $40 dog adoption month (I don’t think really young kittens and puppies are included in that price) so if you can afford the upkeep, please drop by and find a new addition to your family! *****

Big Love Month ~ JUNE 2009 ~ Nevada Humane Society

I’m ready for another cat…so is Leo, he keeps looking for Max. I have my adoption application all filled out and proof of my ownership of home (you’ll need permission of landlord if you rent)…I’ll be getting off early from work today and will be heading down to the Humane Society this afternoon!

For Today ~ 2 June 2009 ~ Simple Woman’s Daybook

FOR TODAY … 2 June 2009

Outside My Window… Partly cloudy sky, warm & a bit humid…the morning after a good thunder storm. Welders working on the new Medical building out back. I wonder which floor I’ll be on!?

I am thinking… I need help with my job.

I am thankful for… my job, my family, my garden.

From the kitchen… Leftover ham, lentil & yellow split pea soup? Or maybe a roasted chicken from the store as I discovered last night that my pantry is pretty empty…couldn’t even make biscuits to go with the soup I made! Sheesh.

I am wearing… Tan crop pants, brown shirt, betulas, and hair down.

I am creating… I’m still working on my sister’s crazy quilt…and her birthday was two days ago. Good grief.

I am going… finish the self-supporting budgets today.

I am reading… Country Matters By Michael Korda.

I am hoping… My constant wish ~ That everyone that is looking for a job, finds one.

I am hearing… The start of the HVAC humming on the roof top…voices from the next door office…welders and beeping from the construction out back.

Around the house… a bathroom that needs to be cleaned. Egads the floor is filthy.

One of my favorite things… rain…and hour of rain…soak it up my wee plants!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… Cross my fingers that the little female cat I saw on Sunday at the Humane Society is still there on Friday so I can adopt her!

Here are two pictures thought I’d share with you… I took these photos of wildflowers near the Hobart Mills Road off of Hwy 89, just north of Truckee, CA.
