Nevada Humane Society Celebrates the Joy of Pet Adoption with Dance Video
YouTube™ Video is Spoof of JK Wedding Entrance Dance Video
Nevada Humane Society recently released a YouTube™ video, celebrating the joy of adopting a shelter pet. The video is a spoof of the highly popular “JK Wedding Entrance Dance” Video, viewed over 52 million times on YouTube™. The new video, “Adoption Entrance Dance Video” is about Cidney and Cooper’s big day at Nevada Humane Society.
Instead of groomsmen and bridesmaids dancing down the church aisles, adoption counselors and animal caregivers dance down the shelter hallway. In the original video, the bride meets her groom but in Nevada Humane Society’s video, a staff member dances a homeless dog to the waiting arms of his new person while onlookers cheer and clap.
“We produced this video to illustrate that pet adoption is truly a time of joy and celebration,” explains Diane Blankenburg, Community Programs Director for Nevada Humane Society. “Each time a pet is adopted, we ring a bell, cheer and clap to celebrate that another homeless pet is going to a loving home. There is a standing ovation each time one of these wonderful pets finds homes.”
Nevada Humane Society is located at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno and is open Sunday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 775-856-2000. Adopt a new pet today and help make Washoe County one of the safest communities for homeless animals. For more information, call 775-856-2000 or go online at NevadaHumaneSociety.org
I adopted Lucy, the wee tortie, from the Humane Society last June. She’s a silly Red-Head…lots of fun and a big love!
Finally was able to find all the parts to my sewing machine and sewing accesories…foot pedal, thread, light, iron and ironing board. Yesterday I had unpacked all of my fabric. Today I made something simple…curtains for the kitchen door and window.
Here’s a picture of the kitchen…facing north. The house was built in 1950…has green tile around the cast iron enamelled sink.
Here it is with a valance curtain…because I wanted the stripes to be vertical, the valance just fitted across the window, no scrunches. 😦 Oh well.
The kitchen door curtains…
Just for an owie factor…thought I’d show you what the rail in this photo did to the area above my left ankle. Just for your information, the rail won…I will have a divot in my leg from now on.
Sorta a before (left side) and after (right side) picture of the bruise…it’s dying down in color now, I should have taken a picture when it was bigger and more purple!
FOR TODAY … 26 July 2010
Outside My Window… Through my double doors here at work…I spy sunshine, green trees, sunshine, parked car, grounds keeper, sunshine. Going to be another hot day.
I am thinking… FOUR MORE DAYS UNTIL SAN FRANCISCO! I can’t wait! I checked weather.com ~ Highs in the 60’s and sunny! HAPPY DANCING! Wow! 60’s…big grin! After 102 and 99 days…that is going to be Saweeet!
I am thankful for… the A/C here at work…now if only I had that at home, am hating 84-88 degrees inside.
From the kitchen… I’ll be bbq’ing pork chops tonight…or maybe a steak. We’ll see what is on sale at Raley’s when I get off work.
I am wearing… Capris, sandals, and short-sleaved brown shirt, hair up in a ponytail.
I am creating… I’ve finally unpacked my fabric and sewing machine. I need to find my thread holder and ironing board then I can make some curtains for the kitchen and bathroom.
I am going… really have to clean out my car. It’s really dirty inside and out..driving (no pun intended) me crazy!
I am reading… A Year in Provence…off and on.
I am hoping… that this is an easy week at work. It’s whipped my arse for the last month or so.
I am hearing… people starting to wander into the building for work. A/C. Liquid Nit tanks. Ice Machine. Doors shutting.
Around the house… clean… 🙂
One of my favorite things… day dreaming about what I would do if I could get my hands on the mother next door that lets her five flipping kids scream and cry non-stop.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… not really sure.
Here is a picture thought I’d share with you…
and we picked the hottest weekend in the year to move. Bloody Hell!
Saturday I finished cleaning the old place; yesterday we had our final walk-thru! YEAH. Now I can finally turn my attention to unpacking everything in the new place. We are back near the Truckee River ~ less than a 1/2 block away.
I dug up my tomatoes, peppers, basil, bee balm, oregano, and thyme…put them into pots given to me by my sister’s boss and ones I picked up at yard sales. My tomatillos and rosemary were already in pots. I’m worried for my maters…hopefully they will survive. They were a bit wilty last night and this morning…but I was wilty too after being uprooted and in 100+ heat!
The first window above the rose and plants is the living room window…the second one, above the old wooden ladder is the kitchen. The river (which you can’t see ~ 😛 ) is south…to the right.
Our neighbors to the north of us are an older couple…she’s nice enough, but he sorta creeps me out. From the looks of their porch, I’d say they are probably horders. The window facing our front door was blocked by what looked like a bed’s head board, but yesterday? While sitting on the couch I saw this…
Got up to look out the door…
ACK!!!!! I HATE DOLLS! At least it’s not a CLOWN DOLL! WHY on earth would someone put that facing out towards your new neighbors?! Is there a camera in that thing?! Sheesh.
It’s time for a bamboo shade on that side of our porch!!!!!!
FOR TODAY … 15 July 2010
Outside My Window… The makings of a 100F day…the first of three coming our way. UGH! My perfect weather window is 75F, sunny blue sky with puffy white clouds…with an occasional thunderstorm. With the trees in the autumn mode and flowers in the spring mode. 🙂
I am thinking… I need a very long vacation. Maybe even to a place where they can induce a coma, in an a/c room, hook me up to an IV…and let me sleep for a week. No worries of moving, making sure people are getting paid, budgets are set up right, travel requests are in, no seminars, no students, no faculty, no boxes. I’m also thinking that I still need to dig up my garden plants and put them in pots so I can take them to the new house. Just one more thing to stress over.
I am thankful for… A/C…now if only I had that at home.
From the kitchen… boxes. An empty frig.
I am wearing… Jeans, tennies, and short-sleaved brown shirt, hair up in a ponytail.
I am creating… Absolutely nothing right now. My fabric is in boxes, my machine is in one place with the cords in another.
I am going… to have lunch with my sister and her boss…then off to my old house (that I’m still moving from and cleaning) so we can pick up the old oak table. Mary (sister’s boss) is a wood worker and can use the 2″ thick wood. Can’t fit it into my new place…way too big.
I am reading… I dug out my copy of A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle (a recommendation of my friend, April) and started reading it. Before the move I finished Peter’s A Good Year, and LOVED it!
I am hoping… that my shoulders will un-knot. I have a horrendeous tension & sinus headache…am praying that goes away soon too.
I am hearing… the A/C…bless the facilities dudes for not turning it off.
Around the house… boxes. BoXeS. BOXES! And…um…MORE BOXES.
One of my favorite things… dreamless sleep…in a cool, dark, quiet room.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… move, clean, stress, try not to die from a heart attack.
Here is a picture thought I’d share with you… a take on one of my favorite movies:
