The Wharf Inn ~ San Francisco, CA

I decided to find a motel at the Wharf when we went to San Francisco last weekend for the Giants-Dodgers game.

Somehow I ended up with The Wharf Inn on Mason, between Jefferson and Beach…probably was the free parking (although I’m sure they added that into the cost of the room).

This is a great motel for anyone NOT wanting to drive around the town…you are right on the wharf, close to Pier 39. The F-Line Streetcar stops on the corner of Mason-Beach and near Jefferson-Mason. You can catch the Cable Cars a few blocks to the west…or any of the Muni Metros. We took the F to The Embarcadero Station and then caught the N that drops you right off in front of AT&T Park at 2nd & King.

Now…that being said…this is NOT a great motel if you want peace and quiet. As it’s right on the Wharf and next to a Muni line! LOL! It’s not too bad if you close your window and turn the ceiling fan on.

The staff is very friendly and helpful (the kid who checked us in and the cleaning crew are great!)…except for the guy on duty Saturday night when we called down around midnight to complain about some yahoo and his girlfriend fighting below us. He didn’t help much…as they kept on fighting for another hour.

We had a room on the third floor facing Beach Street…below are pictures taken from outside our door.

Other good things about the location…7-11, Subway Sandwich shop, a new Spuds diner is across the street on Mason. You can catch the Mr. Toad’s Tours and the Hop-On Hop-Off tour buses right on Mason. You can catch all of the Grey-Line Trolley Tours and the Blue & Gold Fleet Tours less than a block away.

Around the corner on Jefferson…you can have breakfast at Boudin’s Bakery! OMG!!! A loaf of bread, fruit, and some cheese. Yummy! Or you can get their classic breakfast of eggs, bacon, home potatos, and sourdough toast. (Or you can go across the street and get really bad service at the McDonalds…just plan on waiting a long time for your food.)

Over the next few days I’ll be posting more about what we did in San Francisco. πŸ™‚
