I finished my Ocean Quilt Top – HST Quilt

I took a half day off work yesterday. Had to be home for a repairman to fix a cracked window, and after he left…I grabbed my quilt top and headed over to WINDY MOON to find some fabric for the borders. The ladies there are always willing to help find the perfect fabric. ๐Ÿ™‚

Then they asked if I was going to have one of the longarm quilters there quilt it for me…told them I don’t have that type of money. BUT! I do have a Janome 1600P-DB that my inlaws gave me for Christmas that I have not used yet. So I will bring it in for Donna to go over with me the basics of FMQ.

They were getting busy in the shop, so I headed on home to my wee sewing space and started in on finishing my quilt. We moved to a smaller house/duplex in July, so I do not have a dedicated sewing room anymore. I have my sewing machine set up in the corner of our guest room; my fabric hutch is also in there; I put nails up on the closet to hook the design wall up; ironing board goes down and back up…but then I have to go down the hall, through the kitchen, down the stairs into the basement to my cutting table! Let me tell you…I get my excerise in when making a quilt. Up and Down, Up and Down…Up and half way Down, back Up (forgot the rotary!), back down.

My first quilt I ever made is on the bed…the last quilt I’m making on the wall. ๐Ÿ™‚

Next ~ will have to figure out what I want to do for the backing. Just one fabric or mix of all? Not sure yet.

  1. Ooh! Pretty pretty! You are so talented Michelle! Someday, when I have money, I am going to commission you to make me a quilt! ๐Ÿ™‚ How’s that sound? Love the colors you chose, and I love the quilt on the bed too! Did you make that one as well?

  2. Surely you have more fabric than what is contained in the hutch? ๐Ÿ˜€ Just wondering, hee! And BTW, the points on the Ocean Quilt turn me greener than your borders. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

So nice to see your new sewing space! I just love the little table your Threadbanger is on.

As a future guest, I don’t mind at all sharing my room with your pretty quilt things. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Hi..Barbara C said she would love to help you with the quilting of your new top. She has been doing it for a while without the longarm machines that are so-o-o expensive.
