Great Reno Balloon Race ~ 2010
Great Reno Balloon Race ~ 2010
First off…got out of the car at work this morning and looked up to the mountains.
Mt. Rose and Slide Mountain had a dusting of snow last night! 🙂
I went to bed last night (after a heart-wrenching lost for Zito…he really did pitch a good game last night!) feeling like it was closer to Halloween than it is. It was cold and breezy…loved it!
FOOTBALL starts tonight! Vikings and Saints! And…ah…GOOD LUCK to my BILLS this year!
In the midst of September baseball…Giants have been chasing San Diego and the Phillies (now it’s the Braves, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!). Hopefully we can knock the Padres out of first and then not worry about chasing the Braves/Phillies anymore.
The Great Reno Balloon Race starts tomorrow! Lots of pretty balloons will be filling our skies in the mornings.
What: 2010 Great Reno Balloon Race
When: Sept. 10-12
Where: Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 1595 N. Sierra St.
Cost: Free admission
It’s APPLE HILL time, once again! Probably will head up at the end of September or maybe early October!
Nevada Humane Society volunteer orientation is coming up! If I can’t take another kitty home with me, I might as well love on them there.
Listed here are items you can donate to help us better accomplish our no-kill goals.
Small Cat Carriers
3/4-1 ton pickup truck (4×4. A/C, V8, low miles)
Canned kitten, puppy, cat or dog food
Dry kitten, puppy, cat or dog food
Dog & cat toys
Metal dog dishes
Leashes, collars, & harnesses of all sizes
Towels and blankets
Laundry soap (liquid & powder)
Small (6″) paper bowls or plates
13-gal. trash bags
Just put in an order for cocoa butter, mango butter, shea butter, palm oil, and coconut oil! I’ve had many requests for my handmade soap…people must be gearing up for Christmas!
I have lots of earrings I made too…should anyone need to buy some small Christmas gifts! Hint Hint Hint.
I had to order Stephen King’s The Colorado Kid from Amazon. Sundance Books, here in Reno, tried to order it for me, but said it’s out of print and can’t get it for me. 😦 Haven, one of my favorite tv shows on SyFy, is loosely based on it. I want to know how it’s tied into the book…should be here by tomorrow.
Working on a Crafters Challenge…colors this time around are olive green, rust, brown and one of color I can pick myself. I’m doing a quilt again…I have the top finished. Using flannel material that I had in my stash.
11 Sept 2010 Update Note: After talking with a MLB mom (co-worker is mom to a pitcher on the Brewers) she suggested buying a team shirt not one with a name. Too many trades. 🙂 So last night I bought a black & orange hooded pullover sweathirt. But…me thinks I’ll still get a Buster & Wilson t-shirt for next summer’s games at Pac Bell (errr…AT&T) Park. Will have to get an orange one for Friday games too!
Geez…already has cat fur all over it!
As I said above…this is a purely fluff post.
Am taking a poll on which jersey I should get! I’ve a $100 AT&T card that is burning a hole in my wallet (I bundled my wireless and internet together not too long ago)…and I’ve decided to get myself a San Francisco Giants home jersey.
I’ve narrowed it down to three players…which one do you think I should get?
#1 Brian Wilson, Closer.
I love this guy! Brian has taken the place in my heart that Robb Nen held for many years. The thrill of the ninth inning and holding a lead. Hell, sometimes I would turn the game on in the last inning (or the Nenth Inning) just to see if Robb was closing! 🙂 Brian is exciting to watch…and terrifying…strike out, walk, strike out, PLEASE LORD STRIKE OUT!
#2 Buster Posey , Catcher.
Buster, Buster, Buster! What can I say? I…ummm…have a thing about catchers. Catcher thighs…they do me in every time. Started when I was a kid…Steve Yeager, Johnny Bench, Mike Piazza, Thurman Munson, Damon Berryhill.
And can we say ROOKIE OF THE YEAR???!!!! AMEN! Excellent catcher, great arm, great leader! And he’s only 23 years old. May you have a long and wonderful career kiddo!
#3 Pat Burrell, Outfielder.
I told my friend, April, that this one is just pure unadultarated lust. I can not lie. Luckily, Pat is a great outfielder…can’t run fast around the bases, but if he hits home runs and doubles it really doesn’t matter. 🙂
FOR TODAY … 04 September 2010
Outside My Window… It’s a little after 6 pm and it’s still very sunny, 83F indoors…but there’s a breeze. A very diseased Elm tree outside the living room window…blowing in the breeze. TV is in the middle of the window and the LSU-UNC game is on. I really hate college football, not sure why as I LOVE Pro football…just waiting for the SF Giants-LA Dodgers game to come on.
I am thinking… The movie we saw earlier today was a lot more funny than I thought it would be! My husband wanted to see The Other Guys with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. I can’t wait for the 65F weather we will get on Wednesday! Sure would like some more ribs from the Best of the West Rib Cook-Off!
I am thankful for… being able to slowly pay down my credit.
From the kitchen… Leftovers. Also made cupcakes with some of the peach jam I made.
I am wearing… shorts, purple t-shirt, hair down, barefoot.
I am creating… a craft challenge project. Colors are olive green, rust, brown, and whatever extra color I want to add.
I am going… to finish the laundry, work on my craft challenge, watch the Giants.
I am reading… nothing at the moment.
I am hoping… that I can talk my husband into getting Alphie at the Nevada Humane Society…she’s soooo cute.
I am hearing… breeze in trees, Lucy down in the basement, stupid tv drug commercials. Come on! All of these stupid drugs that sound like they cause MORE problems then your original problem!
Around the house… nothing much.
One of my favorite things… September baseball! It’s all on the line, BABY!
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…take a drive to Carson City and Virginia City, more ribs, quilt, watch baseball.
Here is a picture thought I’d share with you…
