For Today ~ 23 February 2011 ~ Simple Woman’s Daybook

FOR TODAY … 23 February 2011.

Outside My Window… it’s dark out…and windy, I hear the wind howling. A storm is moving in tonight.

I am thinking… sure wish it was in the 60’s again…like it was most of January!

I am thankful for… for my friends…they keep me semi-sane. 😛

From the kitchen… I made Beef Stroganoff with left over ball tip steak. I used a 2008 Paula Deen recipe that I adapted, lower sodium and lower fat. Will post recipe tomorrow. 🙂

I am wearing… Jeans, sweatshirt, hair up, wool socks on!

I am creating… my Orange quilt. Quilt top is finished, binding fabric selected…trying to figure out which fabric to use as backing. Pictures below!

I am going… to turn on SyFy to watch Ghost Hunters soon.

I am reading… absolutely nothing at the moment.

I am hoping… that my coworker will be safe in her upcoming trip to Iran to visit her mom and other relatives…am very worried about that country and others over there.

I am hearing… the winds howling through my front door. It’s an old place and not very well insulated.

Around the house… cats sleeping. Dryer knocking. Winds howling. Kitchen cleaned.

One of my favorite things… a cough-less night.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… quilt.

Here is a picture thought I’d share with you…

  1. Looks great. How do you manage to make your tops so quickly? I would be in awe, except I’m already struggling to find homes for the few quilts I manage to complete.

    • I work on them in the evenings…sort of a production line. I gather fabric up that I want to use, put it into a ziplock bag with the pattern. Then start cutting when I can. That ‘orange’ one was a VERY EASY quilt to piece…very fast.

I donate most of my quilts! We have a Kids Kottage here in town…where all the kids go in our county when their parents are in jail, abuse, whatnot. They have at least five of my quilts. I am going to donate a few to our new Veteran’s Family home next to the VA Hospital. I’ve given some to a charity that gives Christmas presents to kids on our 4th Street Corridor (living in motels). So many places will love to have your quilts!

Are they still a-howling? Don’t kitties around the house make howling winds almost a non-issue?

    POKEY DOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love your quilt and the colors. So bright and pretty.

How large is it? It looks huge.
