For Today ~ 28 September 2011 ~ A Simple Woman’s Daybook

FOR TODAY … 28 September 2011.

Outside My Window… Clear blue sky, an asphalt grinder, Case backhoe doing what backhoes do best.

I am thinking… REALLY?! Flashdance fashion is in style again?! Who the hell brought that crap up to the surface again? I just saw a grad student walking down the hall with tight jean cut-offs, a tight tank, a ripped collar and sleeves sweatshirt off the shoulders. REALLY?! Excuse me while I heave into the trashcan.

I am thankful for… good friends.

From the kitchen… Not sure about tonight, but last night we grilled a pork loin roast and potatoes with a salad.

I am wearing… cropped tan pants, sandals, a taupe colored v-neck shirt.

I am creating… been working on batik grandma’s flower garden, stitching by hand.

I am going… to lunch soon.

I am reading… a 99 cent book on my Nook ~ A Job From Hell (Ancient Legends) by Jayde Scott.

I am hoping…

I am hearing… train horn blowing, a big military helicopter going over.

Around the house… everything is falling into place…painting getting done, doors fixed, windows are in, yard planted for fall and next spring.

One of my favorite things… my Buffalo Bills winning! 🙂 THEY BEAT THE PATRIOTS! ROCK ON!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… not much happening.

Here is a picture thought I’d share with you…

Surfer at Pacifica, Ca ~

Start of a Batik Grandma’s Flower Garden quilt

Not sure how big I’m going to get this…it’s now 12″x18″ in size. I find I like hand-stitching these guys using the English Paper Piecing method…until my CT kicks in and my hand goes numb. LOL! I thought I was using 1″ hexies, but looks to be 2″ from tip to tip (1.75″ from flat side to flat side).

Fabric Wish List

Just a few lines of fabric on my Wish List ~ I have more, but thought I’d just showcase three right now. 🙂

Kate Spain’s Terrain   BOUGHT off of Esty.

Denyse Schmidt’s Hope Valley    BOUGHT from Hawthorne Threads.

Joanna Figueroa’s (Fig Tree & Co.) Butterscotch & Rose that is due out in October.

Camille Roskelley’s (and her mama, Bonnie) RUBY…also due out in October.  BOUGHT!  I actually have a 1/2 yard bundle!

For Today ~ 19 September 2011 ~ A Simple Woman’s Daybook

FOR TODAY … 19 September 2011.

Outside My Window… Clear blue sky with no clouds. We’re going to be near record breaking heat temps this week. Grrrr. Traffic heavy on McCarran. An empty bird feeder twisted around the tree trunk.

I am thinking… I need to buy some more Benadryl cream…my blackberry scratches itch like crazy. I wish we made more money on our garage sale…but at least I can park in the garage now! That’s a great thing!

I am thankful for… good friends.

From the kitchen… I took some beef stew meat out. Also roasted some Hatch and Anaheim chiles last night. Maybe a posole.

I am wearing… cropped tan pants, tennis, an aqua t-shirt.

I am creating… A triangle quilt and working on a craft challenge ~ place mats.

I am going… to head to Office Depot. We’re out of copy paper here at work.

I am reading… a 99 cent book on my Nook ~ A Job From Hell (Ancient Legends) by Jayde Scott.

I am hoping… that no more people die from that crash at the Reno Air Races. Still so many in critical condition at our area hospitals.

I am hearing… just the traffic. Me typing. No one rolls into work around here until 9 am.

Around the house… getting ready for the new windows to be put in tomorrow. I’ll be painting the window sills.

One of my favorite things… my Buffalo Bills winning! 🙂 We are 2-0 at the start of the season! We went 0-8 last year. The boys will need to pull together for next weeks game though…New England Patriots.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… Paint. Make Blackberry jelly.

Here is a picture thought I’d share with you…

A picture of Lucy taken yesterday morning…she loves the enclosed front porch. I then ran it through Photoscape’s watercolour filter.

Blackberry Juice…already to make jelly with!

Blackberry picking in NW Nevada…

I finally have enough blackberry juice to make some jelly! YEA! I have 5 cups now. Soon I will be making some Wild Nevada Blackberry jelly!

Blackberry plants are nasty buggers! (((In my best Holy Grail voice))) They have NASTY, BIG, POINTY TEETH! My right arm and both legs are scratched up…berry berry badly.

I think there’s about a month of berry picking in my spot…there’s lots of green berries still.
