For Today ~ 21 November 2012 ~ Simple Woman’s Daybook

FOR TODAY … 21 November 2012.

Outside My Window… Partly cloudy…and those clouds are scooting along pretty fast. Most of them dark. Windy. Sun is hitting the hills behind me.

I am thinking… Still have lots to do before we catch the train tomorrow morning. Also very happy it’s snowing up in the mountains! I’ve never taken Amtrak over the Sierra before and fresh snow will be pretty!

I am thankful for… my friends, health, my job.

From the kitchen… Probably grilled cheese sandwiches and soup.

I am wearing… Jeans, waffle-thermal shirt, tennis shoes and my hair in a pony tail.

I am creating… Not really creating, but I am FINALLY finishing up the dresser from my grandma’s house. I had to scrap off about 20 layers of paint. LOL! Still didn’t get it all off, but dang-it! I have to get my butt in gear. Bought Cajun Spice stain. I have one layer of seal on it with one more to go.

After…still needs sealing.

I am going… to go on a train ride! Go on a train ride!

I am reading… The newest NatGeo magazine that came in the mail.

I am hoping… that it’s quiet here at work today.

I am hearing… the winds.

Around the house… it’s clean. How about that?!

One of my favorite things… L’Occitane’s 20% shea butter dry skin hand cream. It’s a must during this time of the year.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… Go on a train ride! Go on a train ride! Oh…and when we get back, go see Alice Cooper on Sunday.

Here is a picture thought I’d share with you…

An Autumn Day at Sierra Valley, CA

A few photographs I took yesterday while driving around Sierra Valley. OH! I found a Barn Quilt Block just outside of Loyalton! YEA!

Red-Breasted Nuthatch

I forgot to share a few pictures I took on the 26th of October. We were at Bower’s Mansion State Park down in Washoe Valley…throwing some horseshoes when a heard a lot of noise up in the trees. Finally spied a wee birdie that acted like a kid hyped up on Mt. Dew. 🙂

Holiday Craft Fair ~ Sparks Christian Fellowship ~ November 3rd, 2012

Hey all local folks!

I’ll be sharing a booth with two of my friends this Saturday, November 3rd at Sparks Christian Fellowship’s Holiday Craft Fair.

FREE ADMISSION! Last Sunday we were told there will be over 75 vendors.

9 am to 4 pm.

510 Greenbrae Drive (for all us “oldies” it’s in the old $1 Movie Theatre)
Between Pyramid and 4th Street.

I’ll be having 4 different cold processed soaps; about 6 quilts; lots of leather wrapped bracelets; hammered copper bookmarks; earrings and pendants; made some of my photographs into notecards…my friends have made lots of jewelry (silver, copper, swarovski Christmas trees and snowmen).

We’ll take your hard earned cash and credit cards! 🙂

SCF’s Trunk-o-Treat ~ 31 October 2012

We signed up for Sparks Christian Fellowship’s Trunk-o-Treat last night…what a blast! At least a 1,000 kids were there from the neighborhood. I went through my basket full of candy…TWICE…and it’s a huge basket.

Didn’t get any pictures of the kids…they were coming by at a steady rate from 5:30-7:00 pm. 😦 But did get a few of our parking lot neighbors.

Oh! It’s really cool if you put dry ice in your pumpkin and pour water into it. All the vapor coming out has a nice effect.
