Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area ~ Las Vegas, Nevada

My sister, niece, nephew and I visited my dad and Linda down in Las Vegas over the weekend. They live but a hop skip and jump from Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. After brunch and trip to a new mall (Tevana and L’Occitane YAY!) we all loaded up and did the 13-mile scenic drive with a few walking stops.

Winter Solstice Crossroads Quilt (and mini pinwheels) ~ Kate Spain fabric

About a month ago, CRAFTSY had Kate Spain’s Solstice layer cakes on sale so I bought one. Then I saw Lori’s scrappy crossroads tutorial. Winter Crossroads was born ~

Rancho San Rafael Park on an Autumn day

My sister, her boss, and myself walked around Rancho San Rafael Park at lunch time yesterday. A lot of the trees have turned already (few oaks holding out), but there were lots to see.

Making Grape Juice for Jelly

My friend, Reva, texted me saying she has “a butt load of grapes” that she picked and asked if I’d like them. ROFL! But of course!

I would say there was about 5 quarts of grapes, once I picked them off the stems. When I left this morning for work I had 2.5 quarts of juice and it was still draining…so I may have another pint.

Double Irish Chain Quilt ~ Fundraiser for NNGH

My sister, who is a member of the Northern Nevada Ghost Hunters , asked me if I had a quilt that I would donate for their group fundraiser.

Since they are holding a fundraiser for the historic Fourth Ward School up in Virginia City on Halloween, October 31st, I decided to make an Irish Chain quilt with reproduction fabrics from part of the school’s time period.
