Rancho San Rafael Park on an Autumn day

My sister, her boss, and myself walked around Rancho San Rafael Park at lunch time yesterday. A lot of the trees have turned already (few oaks holding out), but there were lots to see.

Our 90F degree April Day opened up the Lilacs

About the only good thing about Sunday’s miserably hot Spring day was that the lilacs opened up!

Variegated Lilac.

Ranunculus…or how I spell (and say) it…Rah-noch-u-less-ess-ess-es

I planted a few ranunculuses on Easter…it was a beautiful day! Sunny and warm. Can’t wait until it stays sunny and warm (not hot) but we have another blast of winter heading our way. 😦

Day at Verdi’s Crystal Peak Park

Spent Saturday at Crystal Peak Park over in Verdi…a short hop skip and jump from Reno. The park is right on the Truckee River…and was pretty busy. Looked like the fishing was pretty good by the bridge…lots of fishies were being taken away.

Floral Friday ~ Amaryllis

🙂 I missed Wordless Wednesday so I’m making up a Floral Friday! This is an an Amaryllis that one of my faculty members gave me in February of this year. She orders all of her bulbs from Holland. The pot holds two bulbs and I have three sets of four flowers.

It’s blooming now!

They’re beautiful, no?! Red with a greenish-cream background.

Weekend in San Francisco ~ Part II ~ Flowers

I was going to have Part II be the Dutch Windmill at the NW corner of the Golden Gate Park, but decided all of us without a flowery Spring need to see some FLOWERS. 🙂

We did a lot of walking along the coast in the Presidio…I absolutely love all of the trails they had there. The weather was beautiful…slight fog/grey skies then the sun came out later that afternoon. Next trip to San Francisco…I’d like to spend it all in the Presidio!

First two are from a bed on the east side of the de Young Museum…the flower and the berry that followed.

This one from the Japanese Tea Garden….

The following were taken between Lincoln Park at the USS San Francisco Memorial to The Presidio along Lincoln Blvd, between Battery Godfrey (1895) and Battery Boutelle (1900).

The last photographs I took were from the walking trail down to the Torpedo Wharf (1908) from the Lincoln Blvd parking lot, on the east side of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Tomorrow I’ll have photographs of the Dutch Windmill and ooooooodles of the Golden Gate Bridge.
