For Today ~ 10 March 2015 ~ Simple Woman’s Daybook

FOR TODAY … 10 March 2015

Outside My Window… Lots of birds on the thistle sock, suet, and feeder…plus the construction staging grounds.

I am thinking… I really want a Parker Vacumatic golden pearl (the honey amber brown one) fountain pen.

I am thankful for… For the long weekend that I got to spend mostly by myself, I needed the sleep from being sick.

From the kitchen… Not sure, but it might be bbq’d chicken with a big salad.

I am wearing… Tennis shoes, jeans, multi-blue blouse.

I am creating… Finishing up a quilt for someone and waiting for beads to remake a bracelet that got lost in the mail.

I am going… to lunch with two coworkers soon.

I am reading… Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs.

I am hoping… that we get rain and snow from the small front moving through tonight.

I am hearing… My TARDIS refrigerator, fax machine, me coughing, doves and finches.

Around the house… need to wash the bed linens.

One of my favorite things… Fountain pens…my newest is a very pretty blue TWSBI VAC 700 with a medium nib, inked with a mix of Iroshizuku Asa-gao and Ajisal.

A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week… Order more ink and read.

Here is a few pictures thought I’d share with you…

My new bird feeder stand at work…

A big THANK YOU to a co-worker, Jason, here at the university! I had my thistle sock and bird feeder attached to the posts holding up a newly planted tree outside my office window…and when he took the posts down in the winter he said he’d be back in the spring to make a stand for the feeders. He left one post up so the feeder could still be used.

Guess who had some time last Friday to make the bird stand! 🙂 He moved the stand out some between my window and the kitchen/break room window so we can all enjoy the birds.

Weekend in Photographs ~ Garden, Birds, and Bees…Fabric too!

It’s windy, cloudy, and my left sinus is killing me so I thought I’d just post a few photos I took over the weekend.

A few Denyse Schmidt fabrics in 1/3 yard cuts that I got at Joann's.

Part of my haul from Garden Spot in Sparks...Bee Balm, Dill, Sweet Marjoram, Orange Thyme...Thank you Groupon, $40 for $20!

Tarragon and Chives I planted in one of my old enameled pots. Catnip behind it, Thyme and Oregano to the left, taters in the barrel.

Taters are growing! Taters are growing!

Bee on what I think is an Oregon Grape/Barberry bush...at Crystal Peak Park in Verdi, NV.

Bees were loving the pretty yellow flowers! Loading themselves down with pollen!

My Irises are starting to bloom in the front yard.

Goldfinches & Warblers ~ SPRING IS HERE!

Yesterday, at Rail City’s Garden Center ~ Goldfinches enjoying a semi-warm, sunny, spring morning…splashing away.

This evening, after the sun went down, I spotted a pretty little bird hopping around my neighbors rooftop and tree…the lighting was pretty dim, sorry. I think it’s a Western Yellow-Rumped Warbler.
